Federal Home Energy Rebates

HER & HEAR: up to $16,000 back.

The federal Home Energy Rebate programs help Georgia households pay for energy efficiency upgrades and electric appliances. Eligible households can get up to $16,000 depending on household income and expected energy savings. ECS helps you find out what you qualify for and handles the paperwork.

What are HER and HEAR?

Two federal rebate programs, administered in Georgia by GEFA.

HER (Home Efficiency Rebates) and HEAR (Home Electrification & Appliance Rebates) are federal programs funded under the Inflation Reduction Act. Georgia was allocated $220 million by the U.S. Department of Energy, administered here by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA). HER — Home Efficiency Rebates

Rebates for whole-home efficiency

Up to $16,000up to 98% of project cost, depending on income & energy savings

What it covers
Improvements that cut your home's overall energy use — insulation, air sealing, and HVAC upgrades. The rebate scales with both your projected energy savings and your household income.
How much
Households at or below 80% AMI: 98% of project cost — up to $10,000 (20–34% energy savings) or up to $16,000 (35%+ savings). Households above 80% AMI: 50% of cost — up to $2,000 or $4,000.
How to apply
Start with an ECS energy audit. We identify the measures that qualify and handle the rebate paperwork.

HER rewards efficiency improvements that lower your total energy consumption. Because the rebate scales with projected energy savings, an ECS audit is the best first step to size up what your home could earn.

HEAR — Home Electrification & Appliance Rebates

Rebates for electric appliances

Up to $14,000point-of-sale; households under 150% AMI

What it covers
Electric appliances and equipment, each with its own cap: heat pump for heating/cooling ($8,000), electric load service center ($4,000), electric wiring ($2,500), heat-pump water heater ($1,750), insulation / air sealing / ventilation ($1,600), and an electric stove, cooktop, range, oven, or heat-pump clothes dryer ($840).
How to apply
An ECS audit helps you plan which upgrades qualify. HEAR rebates are point-of-sale on qualifying appliances, and we guide you through the process.

HEAR helps cover the cost of switching to efficient electric appliances. Each qualifying item has its own rebate cap, and the total combination you can claim is up to $14,000, depending on your household income.

Who qualifies

Bigger rebates for lower incomes — but most households qualify for something.

The rebate amount is tied to your household's income compared to the Area Median Income (AMI) for your area. Households under 80% of AMI can qualify for the largest rebates — covering most of a project's cost. Households that earn more still qualify for smaller, but meaningful, rebates. How it works with ECS

We handle the paperwork.

Step 1 — Audit
We perform a Whole House Energy Assessment to see where your home is losing energy and which upgrades qualify.
Step 2 — Plan & qualify
We match the recommended improvements to the right rebate program and confirm what your household qualifies for.
Step 3 — Submit
ECS manages the rebate submission for you, just like we do for Georgia Power rebates.

You don't need to become a rebate expert. Just like the Georgia Power programs, ECS handles the rebate paperwork end to end — you get the audit, choose the improvements, and we take it from there.
